Producer price index in the U.S. has grown significantly in January

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the producer price index (PPI) rose by 1,4% in January to a monthly basis. Note that in the previous month, producer prices rose by 0,4%, and in January predicted an increase of 0,8%.


In annual terms, the producer price index up 4.6% in January when the previous value of 4.4%. Analysts predicted that the annual rate will not change.
Producer price index excluding prices for food and energy prices (PPI excluding food and energy) rose by 0,3% in January when the previous value of 0.0% and forecast an increase of 0,2%.


In annual terms the main index rose from 0,9% to 1,0% against the forecast of 0,8%.
