Preliminary data: Eurozone GDP grew by 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2009

According to preliminary data of the European Union statistical agency Eurostat, index of gross domestic product (GDP) the euro zone grew by 0.1% in the fourth quarter of last year. The value index has fallen short of expectations of market participants and was below the projected increase of 0,4%. In the previous quarter Eurozone GDP grew by 0,4%.


In annual terms Eurozone GDP fell by 2.1% in the fourth quarter, while the forecast was -1.9%. In the third quarter of the annual decline in GDP amounted to 4,0%.
