Consumer price index in Britain lower than the forecasts for January

Annual consumer price index for the UK rose in January to 3,5%, reports the National Statistics Office. Note that in December the annual inflation rate was 2,9%, and in January projected rate increase to 3,6%.

In monthly terms, consumer prices fell by 0,2% in January after an increase of 0,6% in the previous month. Analysts expected indicator decrease on 0,1% in the reporting period.

At the same time, the annual consumer price index, not taking into account the price of food, energy, alcohol and tobacco products (main index) rose in January from 2,8% to 3,1% while the forecast 3.2%.
