World steel production in January rose by 4,5% compared with December

World Association of steel producers (World Steel Association - WSA) has published data on global production for January 2009 producers from 66 countries belonging to the organization, made during the reporting period, 86 million tons of steel, which is 24% less than a year ago . In doing so, the world production in January turned out to 4.5% higher than in December 2008

All major producing countries except China, have shown a decline in more than 10%. Chinese production increased by 2,4% and amounted to 41,5 million tons. Japanese manufacturers produced 6.4 million tons (-37.8%), South Korean - 3,5 million tons (-25.6%).

In Germany, it was produced 2,7 million tons of steel (-35.6%), in Italy, 1.6 million tons (-40.6%), in France, 0,9 million tons (-46.7%) in the UK 0.7 million tonnes (-45%).

American companies have issued for January 4,1 million tons, which is 52,7% lower than last year's figure. In Brazil, production fell by 45,6% to 1,6 million tons in Australia at 36,4% to 0,4 million tons.

In doing so, for many countries at the time of entry report has not yet received official information. Estimated steel production in Russia in January totaled 3.3 million tons, a 49.1% lower than a year earlier.
