U.S. Consumer confidence in February fell to a new historical minimum

The index of consumer confidence in the U.S. calculated the private research company Conference Board fell in February 2009 to 25 points from the revised downwards meaning the previous month at 37.4 points.

This was the lowest index value since the beginning of his calculation in 1967.

Based on initial data for January at 37,7, analysts were expecting the index decline in February to 35.5 points.
